Shiretoko Mountain Pass (知床峠)| Shiretoko

Shiretoko mountain pass (知床峠) is 74m above sea level, which connects Utoro on the western coast with Rausu on the eastern coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula.

Spectacular views of nearby Mt. Rausu (1661m), the highest mountain in Shiretoko, can be seen from the mountain pass road like this↓
Beautiful, isn't it???

Around the top of the pass, dwarf stone pine can be enjoyed and we can feel this area is near forest limit!

Look at the Pacific ocean!
Do see Northern Territories clearly???

On the way to the pass, we can easily encounter wildlife such as red foxes, and

Shika deers like this!

Shiretoko is blessed with the nature!

*Notice*
Red foxes are very cute, but don't touch them. They have echinococcus! Don't take the parasite! Please take a wonderful memory only!!
