Shubo Kibarashi (酒房きばらし)| Local Cuisine Izakaya | Susukino (すすきの)

If you want to eat delicious and authentic Hokkaido dishes in Susukino (すすきの), I recommend "Shubo Kibarashi (酒房きばらし)"↓

The izakaya does not have menu, and the chef cooks dishes from carefully selected seasonable ingredients. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
Just for reference, the budget here is around 10,000 to 15,000 yen/ head.

Look at the sea urchin↓
This is freshly removed from shells!!! I really love it!!!

The sashimi is also gorgeous!!
Botanebi prowns are huge and sweet!!
Chutoro (中トロ), and ohtoro (大トロ) are perfect!!
Abalone is very appetizing!!!
Would you like to eat it? (Of course!!!)

As I love sake, and the chef always serves us dishes going well with sake!! Thank you very much!!!

The asparagus and Sakhalin Surf Clam (ホッキ)↓ are very seasonable and sweet!!! Yummy x 2!!

So is the corn!!!
Why?
Of course the chef selects the best ingredients in the season, but look at this↓

He uses "Kubota Senjyu (久保田 千寿)", a very very expensive sake, as seasoning for the vegetables above↑ Unbelievable!!!

If you love fresh seafood and vegetables, this izakaya is a paradise!!!

I always order this curry and rice at the end of the course.
Look at the ingredients; abalones, prawns, scallops, Sakhalin surf clams and so on!! Sounds like a seafood jewel box!!! Wow! Wow! Wow!
How delicious the curry is!!

Last but not least, we enjoyed fruits!

I really recommend this izakaya!!

Kusunoki (鮮肴味旬 楠)| Seafood Izakaya | Susukino (すすきの)

After enjoying Ezo Tajimaushi steak (see the details→), we went to "Kusunoki (鮮肴味旬 楠)" to enjoy seasonable seafood!

I love an individual room.....

Cheers!
I enjoyed wine and beer in the previous restaurant, we ordered sake

I really really recommend cod white roe (たちポン)in the winter time. This is very milky and mild! I love it!

As this restaurant is famous for goosefish (あんこう) dish, I ordered goosefish liver! Yummy x 2!!!

I also love herring and its roe (鰊切りこみ)↓, which goes well with sake!!

We almost forgot why we came here!
Yes!
We wanted to eat a delicious seafood bowl! How about "Kusunoki bowl (くすのき丼)"?

Voila!
This is THE special seafood bowl!

Look at the toppings; salmon roe and abalone!!! I especially love abalone's liver at the center!!!

Sea urchin is served separately, and put on the top by ourselves!!!
Do you know how much it is? It is only 3,000 yen!! A good buy, isn't is??

We enjoyed delicious seafood here in Susukino (すすきの).

Koya (古屋)| Izakaya Restaurant | Susukino (すすきの)

If you want to enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken) and oden (Japanese winter dish consisting of several ingredients such as boiled eggs, daikon radish, konnyaku, and processed fish cakes in a light, soy-flavoured dashi broth) at reasonable prices in Susukino (すすきの), Sapporo, how about "Koya (古屋)"?
This izakaya (居酒屋) is often visited by players of Nippon Ham Fighters, a professional baseball team located in Sapporo↓

See?! They serve a lot of kinds of yakitori (串焼き) and oden (おでん) at reasonable prices!!!

These are appetizing small dishes↓

Cheers!

Voila!
■Oden Round 1
Eggs, chicken balls, daikon radish, fish cakes, mochi in deep-fried tofu, whelk, and mitsuba
The broth is very light, and we can eat as much as possible!!!

■Yakitori Round 1
Negima (chicken and leek), and seseri (chicken's neck)
Yes! We can enjoy several unique parts of chicken. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

■Yakitori Round 2
Ponpochi (bottom part of chicken's tail)
I love this texture! Yummy x 2!!

■Oden Round 2
Takenoko (bonboo shoot), ganmo (deep-fried tofu with vegetables), ebi shinjo (shrimp fritter)
This ganmo (がんも) is very fluffy!!!

■Yakitori Round 3
Mini tomatos with chicken (ミニトマト肉詰)
The juicy tomatoes goes well with the tasty chicken!!

Last but not least, we ordered salmon rice (鮭わっぱ). Actually we always order this at the end of the meal. Let's open it!

Voila!
This is the salmon rice (鮭わっぱ)↓

First we eat it as it is.
The secret broth makes the rice very appetizing!!!

Next we eat it as ochazuke (お茶漬け), rice with tea or broth poured on it. You cannot finish your meal without ordering this!! I really really recommend it!!! Actually almost all guests at this izakaya order it!!

I really recommend Susukino (すすきの), which has a lot of attractive izakaya, and bars!!!

Hanagokoro (花ごころ)-- Izakaya Restaurant | Former Otaru Branch of Yasuda Bank (旧安田銀行小樽支店) | Otaru

Would you like to learn the history of Otaru city, and eat lunch at the same time? Is so, how about "Hanagokoro (花ごころ)" near JR Otaru Station. It used to be a former Otaru branch of Yasuda Bank (旧安田銀行小樽支店), and now it is used as an izakaya restaurant!

In the 20th century, this city was an economic hub in Hokkaido, and had a lot of branches of famous banks. This is one of them. The Grecian architectural style was very popular at that time, and massive columns were a primary feature!

It is designated as a historic landmark of Otary city.

We've learned its history first, and then entered this izakaya!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Cherry blossoms welcomed us!!!

Each room has a Japanese-style table and partitions like this, except a big table at the center.

This is an izakaya, but we can order lunch sets, too!

How about all-you-can-eat-style-sushi (2,520 yen/ 60 mins)? Sounds very Otaru!

We ordered a today's special.

■Grilled red fish
Hot, hot, hot!

■Tempura
Hot, hot, hot, again! Hahaha!

■Deep-fried rockfish
Otaru is famous for its fresh seafood, and we could enjoy it a lot!

■Simmered pork
Its seafood is wonderful, but don't forget meat!!! This is very tender!

We really enjoyed the lunch set in the historical building!

■Roll
Their dishes and dessert is not so special, but this atmosphere is very special, isn't it??

After lunch, we went upstairs, and enjoyed the 20th century building from the second floor!

The windows, doors, and corridors are Grecian architectural style, and we experienced "time slip" to the Showa era!

Do you have any idea what it is now? It used to be a money safe of the bank, but now it is used as a toilet!!!

We really enjoyed their lunch in the very unique atmosphere!
