Ashiribetsu Waterfall （アシリベツの滝）| Takino Suzuran Hillside National Government Park （国営滝野すずらん丘陵公園）

Have you ever watched ice falls? Here in Sapporo, some beautiful ice falls can be seen during the winter time. Today I'll show you "Ashiribetsu Waterfall （アシリベツの滝）", one of the most famous ones.
Now we are in "Takino Suzuran Hillside National Government Park （国営滝野すずらん丘陵公園）", located in the southern part of Sapporo.↓

Look at the thermometer↓ The temperature here is - 7.2C. Not bad for local residents like me. Hahaha!

Snow shoes can be borrowed at the Takino Park Information Center （滝野公園案内所）. Of course free of charge.....

Let's go to the ice fall!!
It takes only 40 minutes from the information center to the ice fall. Sounds perfect, doesn't it?

You can go to the ice wall without wearing snow shoes, but if you wear them, you can walk on fresh snow outside of the walking course. Fresh snow here is very fluffy and you must love it!!

Look at Atsubetsu river （厚別川）↓　Snow lumps on the river look like marshmallows! How cute they are!!

Trees along the course are covered with snow like this↓

"Water ouzel course （カワガラスコース）" to the ice fall is flat, with cross country ski course and waking trail side by side. Next time I want to try cross country skiing to the waterfall! Actually I love exercising!

The course is basically along the river, and we can enjoy taking pictures while walking on the course. The scenery here is so beautiful that we feel as if time passes very quickly!

We've arrived at "Ashiribetsu Waterfall （アシリベツの滝）"!

The cascade is 26m high, and designated as one of the most famous 100 waterfalls in Japan （日本の滝100選）.

Voila!!
How marvelous it is!
We couldn't say anything for a while because it is pretty beautiful!

Water is not completely frozen. Look at this↓ Ice falls are in front of waterfalls. Amazing and dynamic!!!

Please enjoy it from the different angle.
I really recommend the waterfall from the bottom of my heart.

All of my guests love the waterfall, and I'm sure I'll be back with my other guests in the near future!

Table De Rivage （ターブル・ドゥ・リバージュ）| Cafe Restaurant | Onuma

Would you like to enjoy the perfect view and dishes by Lake Onuma? If so, I recommend "Table De Rivage （ターブル・ドゥ・リバージュ）"↓

As this cafe restaurant is located by Kogetsu Bridge （湖月橋）,

we can enjoy picturesque scenery from the windows like this↓

The seat type is selectable among the three: normal seats in the restaurant,

terrace seats outside, and

cursing terrace seats on the lake!!!!

How about booking this special cruiser for your anniversary? Perfect, isn't it?

When you come here, I really recommend Onuma Beef （大沼牛）, brand beef in this area.

We enjoyed the "Onuma beef stew set （大沼牛ビーフシチューセット） today, although this seasonable pasta set sounds wonderful! Hahaha!

Are you ready? It's show time!


This is not a normal mushroom soup! They use King Shiitake Mushroom （王様の椎茸）, a brand shiitake mushroom for this potage! Super yummy x 2!!!

Homemade row bacon is on the very fresh salad picked today in this region! Perfect!

I really love this homemade pickles!! Can I have another helping??? Hahaha!

Voila!
This is beef stew! Everybody in our tour group loved this perfect stew! The beef tastes very rich !!! It is so tender that we don't have to use knife for it!!

This homemade chocolate cake is not too sweet and very delicious!

Drinks are selectable; coffee or tea↓

After enjoying the lunch course, we walked around the restaurant. This area is filled with water lilies. I'm sure we can appreciate the flowers on the lake in late June to July!

This is the cruiser table! Next time, I'll definitely book it! Isn't it marvelous to enjoy delicious meal and wonderful scenery at the same time??

This picturesque lake and beautiful Mt. Komagatake （駒ケ岳） gave us a very relaxing time!

How romantic it is!

They serve winter special menu, which is available usually at "Gengoro （源五郎）", their sister restaurant, only.

How wonderful we can eat a Japanese lunch set in this restaurant!

Onuma Beef, a brand beef is a must, isn't it?

Do you know jyunsai （じゅんさい）, water shields, floating-leaved aquatic plants? This clear, slimy, jelly-like substance is very yummy!!!

Smelts are caught in Lake Osuma.

I really recommend this restaurant every season!

Mathematics Walking Trail （数学の道）| Onuma Quasi National Park （大沼国定公園）

Onuma Quasi National Park （大沼国定公園） is located about 30 km north of Hakodate, the third largest city in Hokkaido. This park consists of Mt. Komagatake, an active volcano, and three lakes; Lake Onuma （大沼）, Lake Konuma （小沼）, and Lake Junsai （じゅんさい沼）, all of which were formed through a volcanic activity about three hundred years ago.

This park is so picturesque that a lot of tourists as well as artists and celebrities often visit this area!

See?? It's beautiful!!

One of the fans is Heisuke Hironaka （広中　平祐）, a worldwide mathematician who got a Fields prize! He loves this park, and named a walking trail by Lake Onuma the "Mathematics Walking Path （数学の道）"↓

Every year the "Ingenuity Seminar （創才セミナー）" is held at the "Hokkaido Onuma International Seminar House （大沼国際セミナーハウス）"↓, and elementary and junior high students, who are the winners of the Mathematics Olympics, are invited to this activity.

Let's walk along the walking path for a while!

Wow! We've found some holes which were made by brown beers!

Look at the hole made by black woodpeckers! Now a different bird is using it!

We really enjoyed the walking path with a nature guide!

Would you like to try very local sweets? Located near JR Onuma Koen Station （JR大沼公園駅）,

Friendly Beer （フレンドリーベア）, a souvenir shop, serves very unique flavors of soft ice cream, such as

milk, chocolate, Toyoura Strawberry （豊浦いちご）, Yubari Melon （夕張メロン）, and Squid Ink （いかすみ）!!!!!

Of course, I tried it!!!Hahaha! It's really recommendable! Have you tried squid ink pasta? It's delicious, right? Why not squid ink soft ice cream???
