Farm Tomita is one of Hokkaido’s premier flower farms. Originally a simple lavender farm, today the farm has expanded to include a number of large fields of various flower types, including Poppies, French Marigolds, and many more.
The most famous image of the farm is that of the ‘rainbow field’ created by planting rows of different flowers along the gentle rolling hills. The image is unforgettable and each year visitors come to photograph the fields made famous by their use in a nation wide Japan Rail calendar.
Go straight to the tree-lined street,
and you can see Grape Hyacinthus and Pansies on your left.
This is a ‘rainbow field’ in late May.
Along with the fields, the farm has cafes, ice cream vendors, gift shops, a dried flower shop and a potpourri shop.
My favorite items in the ice cream vendor are.........of course............ :)
■Lavender soft serve ice cream
■Chiffon cake (lavender)
■Cream Puff (lavender)
■Calpis jelly (lavender)
■Ferano melon cream bun
■Honey pudding (lavender)
There is a cafe next to the gift shop.
In a lavender season from late June to early August, the cafe is packed with visitors, but today we can relax, drinking lavender soda....In the gift shop,
you can find many lavender items such as............
■Dried lavender
■Lavender tea
■Lavender cosmetics
■Lavender potpourri doll
and so on.
In late June to early August, you can see purple carpets of lavender here!
But this is the only season to see colorful flowers and snow-capped mountains at the same time!
I love the Tokachi Mountain range capped with snow in this season!
Farm Tomita has a green house, which offers guests blossoming flowers throughout the year.

And outside the greenhouse in late May, several other flowers can be seen such as
■Moss pink
■Tulip
■Iceland poppy
This stream in this garden makes me relax!
Farm Tomita is free to enter and you can wander around at your own pace.
The weather for photography is often best very early in the morning when you will find the keenest of flower enthusiasts enjoying the beauty of the farm.
