Seafood Restaurant Juneau (海鮮創作料理 シーフードレストラン ジュノー)| Sapporo

If you want to eat fresh Hokkaido seafood in not Japanese-style but Western-style dishes, how about "Seafood Restaurant Juneau (海鮮創作料理 シーフードレストラン ジュノー)"?

Located on the 8th floor of Marui Imai Odori Annex (丸井今井大通別館), the restaurant is run by Sato Suisan (佐藤水産), one of the leading seafood companies in Hokkaido. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

On Friday night, we can enjoy live music performance here! How romantic it is!

Let's enter it!

From the window seats,

we can enjoy Odori Park (大通公園). I have to come here at night again!!!

Let's get started!
I ordered a "quick lunch course" because I had only 40 minutes for lunch today!

The quality of tuna is very high!!!! Thank you, Sato Suisan!!!

The clams caught off Akkesi (厚岸) are very plump and yummy x 2!!!

See?! I love Hokkaido seafood!

The bread is make of "Haruyokoi (春よ来い)", a grand flour in Hokkaido. I love this restaurant partly because they mainly use Hokkaido ingredients!

This is today's main!

The masu salmon caught off Matumae (松前) is very juicy!!

The scallop caught off Notuke (野付) is thick and tastes dense! Perfect!

Last but not least, I enjoy tiramisu and tofu ice cream

Look at the dish↓ How cute it is!

I had a great time at this restaurant!

If you look for a western-style restaurant serving high-quality of seafood, I recommend "Seafood Restaurant Juneau (海鮮創作料理 シーフードレストラン ジュノー)" run by a seafood company.

Japanese Restaurant Kurumaya (日本料理 車屋)| Japanese Restaurant | Sapporo

Actually it  is quite difficult to find restaurants serving delicious shabushabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) during the lunch hours, but I've found a great restaurant in Sapporo.
This is "Japanese Restaurant Kurumaya (日本料理 車屋)".

Located on the 25th floor of ANA Hotel (全日空ホテル) near JR Sapporo Station,

we can enjoy the wonderful cityscape from the restaurant! Lucky us!

They serve almost all kinds of Japanese food such as grilled eels (うなぎのかば焼き),

tonkatsu (とんかつ),

and tempura bowl (天丼). Ops! We ordered several other Japanese dishes although we came here to eat shabushabu only! Hahaha!

Voila!
This is shabushabu!

Look at the beef! How beautiful it is!

The kishimen noodles absorb the yummy yummy beef and vegetable juice, and taste wonderful!!

My guests and I were so happy to have such fantastic lunch today!

Takahashi Ryoriten (たかはし料理店。)| Reasonable & Healthy Staff Canteen | Sapporo

Do you want to eat healthy homemade-type Japanese dishes in the downtown area of Sapporo? If so, I recommend "Takahashi Ryoriten (たかはし料理店。)"↓

Located in the current Hokkaido Government building across the former one↓, this staff cafeteria is open to the public.

Let's enter it!

There is a normal cafeteria on the B1F, but please ignore it! Hahaha! This is a typical cheap dining area...........

Go up to the top floor, and you can find this fashionable staff canteen!

Are you with your family members or friends? Please use a big table.

If you are alone, how about the counter seats? Isn't that great??? We can enjoy the beautiful view from the top floor!

You must become happy to see this cityscape! Look at the ski jump on Mt. Okura!

The location is also perfect! The Hokkaido Government building is between Odori Park and JR Sapporo station. We can easily drop by this dining area after sightseeing or shopping.

During the lunch hours, a "Myself lunch plate" is recommendable. More than 10 kinds of home-made type Japanese dishes are selectable, and we can make our own lunch set.

Fish, meat, vegetables........... All of them are very healthy!

Desserts and drinks are also served.
If you're hungry after the lunch hours, I recommend a "cheff's special lunch set". Do you have any idea how much is it???

A. It is only 500 yen!!!
Wow! Wow! Wow! How reasonable it is!

*It is NOT served before 13:30.

Oops!
I've found special eggs, another special items!
How unique are the eggs? The hatchery building is a large open space, similar to the nature. The healthy hens lay delicious eggs!! Sounds yummy x 2!!!

Voila!
This is an "Omakase teisyoku" or a "chef's special lunch set", which comes with rice and miso soup!

These are typical home-made type Japanese dishes; low in calories and high in protein! The set is nutritionally well-balanced, including seafood, and a lot of vegetables and beans.

How about home-made furikake (seasoned dried seafood)?

Please sprinkle it on rice! It was very delicious and recommendable!

Have you ever heard black bean tea? It is good for your health and beauty! If you're worried about your high cholesterol and body fat, please try it! Your condition can get better! Actually it is very testy!

Otaru Canal (小樽運河)

Otaru Canal (小樽運河) used to be a central part of the city's busy port in the first half of the 20th century. Large vessels were unloaded by smaller ships, which then transported the goods to warehouses along the canal.

The canal became obsolete when modern dock facilities allowed for direct unloading of larger vessels. Thanks to a citizens' movement, a part of the canal was beautifully restored in the 1980s instead of being fully reclaimed, while the warehouses were transformed into museums, shops and restaurants.

The canal makes for a pleasant stroll during the day, when artists present their works to passing tourists,

and during the evenings when 63 old fashioned gas lamps are lit and provide a romantic atmosphere.

Otaru Canal is an undeniably popular tourist attraction.

If you feel adventurous, in the summer time, you can take a rickshaw ride around the town for a fee

The canal also serves as the main site of the town's Snow Light Path Festival.

It is a winter festival held every February in Otaru, during which the city becomes decorated in lights and small snow statues for ten days.

The festival usually runs at the same time as the nearby Sapporo Snow Festival, making it possible for travelers in Hokkaido to visit both festivals on the same trip.

The combination of the snowy town and the glittering lanterns creates a very pleasant atmosphere.

There are two main official festival areas which get lit up daily from 17:00 to 21:00: the Otaru canal area and the former Temiya train line area.

In addition, many locals also put lantern displays in front of their shops and residences, which further adds to the festival spirit.
You can join the volunteer group to make snow lanterns like this↓
