Do you believe that it used to be a flat land before 1943?
Mr. Masao Mimatsu, a local postmaster, bought this area, and recorded the mountain formation every day for more than two years! From 1943-45, Mt. Showashinzan had swelled and risen up from the green wheat fields with earthquakes little by little (actually 60cm a day!!!)
Interesting, isn't it???
Let's go to the summit of Mt. Usu (有珠山) by cable car!
From the Lake Toya Observation Deck, we can enjoy Lake Toya very beautifully like this↓
How about standing bears in a bear park (昭和新山熊牧場) on the foot of Mt. Usu!
How cute they are!
Voila!
This is Lake Toya!
There are several photo spots around the lake. This is Silo Observatory, one of the recommendable places to see the whole picture of the lake!
In the spring time, we can enjoy the picturesque scenery and double cherry blossoms at the same time!
How about taking pictures with the two brown beers! Hahaha!
If you want to enjoy Mt. Yotei (羊蹄山)(1898m), I recommend the Eight Views of Lake Toya↓
And a foot bath!
