They serve a lot of kinds of seafood box lunch! Which should I choose? Everything looks very yummy x 2!!

We took a Super Hokuto Limited Express Train!

This flounder sushi is made of local ingredients only! Sounds perfect!!

After lunch, of course, it's dessert time!!!
This is my favorite ice cream!!! The monthly ice cream in June is.....................

Panorama Road (パノラマロード)| Biei

Biei (美瑛)is a small town surrounded by a picturesque landscape of gently rolling hills and vast fields. A pleasant way to enjoy the charm of Biei is by cycling or driving through the hills and visiting some of the flower fields and famous trees along the way. The area northweat of the town center is named the "Patchwork Road" and the area sourth of the town center the "Panorama Road".

After enjoying the "Patchwork Road (パッチワークロード)",
* If you are interested in the the "Patchwork Road", please refer to my other post→.

we moved from JR Biei Station (JR美瑛駅) to JR Bibaushi Station (JR美馬牛駅) to head for the "Panorama Road (パノラマロード)".

If you want to rent a mountain bike, please visit "guide-no-Yamagoya (ガイドの山小屋)" just in front of the station.

It is 200 yen/hr or 1,200 yen/day. Very reasonable, isn't it?

First, we visited Bibaushi Elementary School (美馬牛小学校).

This triangle roof is loved by a lot of people including Shinzo Maeda (前田 真三), a world famous landscape photographer, who uses this school as an object in his art works.

We headed for his photo gallery!

Through this birch forest road...............

Voila!
How beautiful the Tokachidake mountain range!!!

We were so impressed with the "Panorama Road"!!!

As we used a mountain bike, it was very easy to stop and take pictures of our favorite objects like this!

We arrived at the entrance of his photo gallery.

Located near a birch forest, Takushinkan (拓真館), his photo gallery, displays about 80 art works.

Visitors are not allowed to take his pics in his gallery, and I borrowed some of his works from his website.

* If you want to know the details, please refer to my other post→

We headed for the third destination, using the same road.

Although we used the same road, the scenery looked different. It seems the landscape changes every minute!

Next, we visited "Shikisai-no-Oka (四季彩の丘)", a flower park.

We enjoyed outstanding panoramic views of the Daisetsuzan mountain range as well as seven hectrares of pristine flowerbeds.

* If you want to know the details, please refer to my other post→

Last but not least, we visited "Shinei-no-Oka (新栄の丘)" a view park.

This park is known as a popular place for watching sunsets.

See?? It is very beautiful!!

We fully enjoyed this hilly wonderful town today!

When you find the triangle roof, JR Bibaushi Station (JR美馬牛駅) is just around the corner!

How do you like the "Panorama Road (パノラマロード)"?

I'll be back in July again with my tour guests!

Takushinkan (拓真館)|Photo Gallery | Biei

Located by a birch forest,

Takushinkan (拓真館), a photo gallery, displays about 80 art works by Shinzo Maeda (前田 真三), a world famous landscape photographer. Visitors are not allowed to take his pics in his gallery, and I borrowed some of his works from his website.

We can enjoy Biei in every season through his works.

How impressive, isn't it?

Yes! This town is very beautiful in the winter time, too!

Are you interested in his art works?

It takes only 10 minutes from JR Biei Station to this photo gallery, and the admission is free. I really recommend this art space.

Ken & Marry Tree (ケンとメリーの木), Seven Stars Tree (セブンスターの木), and Zerubu-no-Oka (ぜるぶの丘)| Patchwork Road | Biei

We rented a mountain bike near JR Biei Station (JR美瑛駅), and headed for a flower park and the "Patchwork Road (パッチワークの路)" first!

It takes only 10 - 15 minutes from the station to "Zerubu-no-Oka (ぜるぶの丘)", a 2 ha-flower park.

It is too early to enjoy flowers, but we enjoyed the panoramic views from the park.

Just for reference, we can explore not only on foot but also by various types of carts.

We were so relaxed!!

In the flower seasons from the mid-June to September,

we can enjoy beautiful flowers such as salvias, lavenders, roses, snapdragons, cockscombs, poppies and begonias.

From the "Atomu-no-Oka (亜斗夢の丘)" in the same compound

we can enjoy "Ken & Marry Tree (ケンとメリーの木)", a poplar tree, which was made famous in a 1972 Skyline TV commercial.
* Skyline made by Nissan Motor Co. was one of the popular cars at that time.

Over the decades, the area's beauty has attracted the attention of marketing professionals, and some trees were used in commercials or for package label designs.

Well, well, well,  returned to the "Patchwork Road (パッチワークの路)"and started to enjoyed the hills and famous trees directly!

First, I arrived at the "Ken & Merry Tree". Each famous tree has a panel like this, and we can enjoy the background.

I love this hilly landscape!

The scenery is changed depending on the season and year.

Look at the snow-capped mountains! How beautiful they are!!!

Turn left to go to another famous tree!

Yes! This is exactly like a patchwork!

Everything here is soothing!

Voila!
We've arrived at "Seven Star Tree (セブンスターの木)", a famous oak tree that was once used on the Seven Stars tobacco.

We fully enjoyed this beautiful town!!!

After that, we went back to JR Biei Station (JR美瑛駅), and headed for JR Bibaushi Station (JR美馬牛駅) to enjoy the "Panorama Road (パノラマロード)"!
