I love to find delicious soba noodles restaurants throughout Hokkaido! After visiting Lake Mashu （摩周湖） and Mt. Iou （硫黄山）, how about dropping by "Japanese Restaurant Sobadokoro Izumo （和風れすとらん そば処 出雲）"?

This is a very popular soba restaurant among local people, and always packed with soba lovers especially during the lunch hours.

They serve hot and cold soba and udon, and I ordered .....................

Tenzaru （天ざる）, cold soba with tempura! Looks yummy x 2!!!

Their soba has distinctive aroma, and appropriately thin so that we can enjoy the feeling of soba going down our throat!

I really recommend their tempura, too. Especially their prawn tempura is super delicious!!!

My guest ordered oyster soba （かきそば）. It is hard to see plump oysters below the seaweed, but they are soooooooooooo great! Should I have ordered this soba?? Hahaha!

Hanakazuki （花かずき）| Japanese Restaurant | Former Aoyama Villa （貴賓館）

My guests and I went to the Former Aoyama Villa （旧青山別邸 or 貴賓館）, an important cultural property of Japan, located in Otaru （小樽） the other days.

So-called Herring Mansion is a symbol of herring fishing in the 19th to 20th century, born out of a dream of 17-year-old Masae Aoyama （青山　政恵）.　Masakichi Aoyama （青山　政吉）, his farther and herring billionaire, hired Nenosuke Saito, a chief Imperial carpenter, directing 40 carpenters, plasterers  and joiners to construct this villa. It is very gorgeous, but used during the summer time only!!!

Well, well, well, we were so hungry that we dropped by "Hanakazuki （花かずき）", a Japanese restaurant adjacent to this mansion.

I love this atmosphere! Look at this Byobu （屏風）, Japanese folding screen! How fantastic it is!!

They also have a table room like this↓ While enjoying kimono or a beautiful peony garden out of big windows, guests can have a wonderful lunch time!!

Voila!
One of my guests ordered this seafood bowl （三色丼）! Otaru reminds us of fresh seafood!

The tea cup has a peony design. Yes, we can appreciate a lot of pretty peonies, Masae's favorite flowers, in full bloom, from May to July in their garden.

The other guest ordered a soba and herring sushi set （にしん棒寿司とかけそば）.

Herring roe just under the top herring meat is a great accent for the sushi! Crunchy x 2!!!

I ordered a "Herring box lunch （にしんお重）"↓

Herring cooked with soy sauce is very tender and delicious!! Yummy x 2!!

The set comes with local fresh sashimi! Bravo!!

We had a wonderful time in Otaru, an historical city in Hokkaido!

Yamaga （手打ちそば やま賀）| Soba Restaurant | Sapporo

Sapporo has a lot of soba restaurants, but not all the restaurants serve delicious soba, of course. Today I'll show you "Yamaga （やま賀）" on the Michelin Guide Hokkaido, serving wonderful soba and tempura.

Let's enter it!

I love this Japanese atmosphere! How peaceful it is!

Addition to the regular soba, they serve seasonal dishes, such as clam rice, oyster tempura, king crab tempura, and so on............

 And I chose a soba and oyster tempura set. Sounds winter in Hokkaido!

Until the set was served, I enjoyed soba tea for a while..........

Voila!
Here comes the oyster seiro set!

All of them are my favorite; asparagus, eggplant, shimeji mushroom, and ............. oysters!!!!

This special soba soup makes these tempura

more delicious!!!! Yummy x 2!!!

Look at the oyster tempura! Sooooooooooo plump!!! Hahaha!

Thier soba look very beautiful, don't they? They use cores of buckwheat only!! That's why the noodles are quite translucent!

The thin and elastic noodles are definitely their artworks!!! Enjoy the distinctive aroma!!

Last but not least, we enjoyed sobayu （そば湯）, hot water left in the pot after soba are boiled.

I really recommend this soba restaurant!

Kyomibou （蕎味坊）| Soba Restaurant | Ebetsu/ Sapporo

I love soba noodles. Today I'll show you "Kyomibou （蕎味坊）", one of my favorite soba restaurant located in Ebetsu↓

Autumn is the soba season, when we can enjoy newly-harvested very fragrant noodles!!

Let's enter it!

When I come here, I always order hot and cold soba, because both of them has the different flavors even though the ingredients are the same.

They serve smaller portions. You may order oomori （大盛り） or big portions if you want to eat a lot like me. Hahaha!

This is hot kashiwa tempura soba （かしわ天ぷらそば） whose topping are various from prawns to vegetables!

How about cold soba with tempura （えび天そば）?

Look at the shinny soba, which has distinctive soba aroma!!!

Soba should be swallowed without a lot of chewing in order to enjoy the sensation of soba going down the throat and the scent of buckwheat flour.

Don't forget the yummy x 2 tempura!!

The kuruma prawn （車エビ） is very huge!!!

Last but not least, we enjoyed sobayu （そば湯）, or hot water left in the pot after soba has been boiled.

This soba shop will move from Ebetsu to Sapporo city on the 25th of this month. I should go to the new restaurant!!!

Akkeshi One Day Tour （厚岸1日ツアー）

This is a one day tour of Akkeshi, through which I believe you can fully enjoy the town. How do you like it? Please leave your comment!

①Akkeshi Station
When you arrive at JR Akkeshi Station,

please take a picture with this panel! Yes! Akkeshi is an oyster town!!

②Yabu Soba （藪蕎麦）

Then you should drop by this soba shop in front of the station, and

enjoy oyster soba↓, or an oyster bowl! Yummy x 2!! See the details→☆

③Cape Aikappu （愛冠岬）

Then let's get started with Cape Aikappu!

If you ring the bells with your boyfriend or girl friend, you will be happy forever!

On the way to the cape, you may encounter wildlife such as shika deer↓

④Benten Shrine （弁天神社）

On the way back to the station area, we can see Benten Shrine from Akkeshi Ohashi Bridge （厚岸大橋）. Looks like it is floated on the ocean, but actually it is on Kakijima Island （牡蠣島）, and enshrined with Benzaitenza statue （弁財天座像）, an important cultural asset of Japan.

⑤Fish Market （漁業組合市場）

Well, well, well, let's enjoy seafood at the fish market, located near the station, too!

Akkeshi is a paradise of seafood such as oysters, scallop, prawns, and so on!

⑥Marine Museum （海事記念館）

Within a walking distance from the fish market, there is Marine Museum.

We can learn the history of Akkeshi and its fisheries.

⑦Conchiglie （コンキリエ）

This roadside station is on the hill, and 

we can enjoy the ocean and the townscape!

Let's enter the building. On the first floor, there is a souvenir corner with a wide variety of oyster items.

Scallops, oysters, abalone, sea urchin, Pacific saury, and you name it! See the details→☆

⑧Ujiie Machiaijyo （氏家待合所）

Last but not least, please get an oyster rice box lunch at the dining.

They make this box lunch depending on your train time! I recommend you to make a reservation in advance! See the details→☆
