Shubo Kibarashi (酒房きばらし)| Local Cuisine Izakaya | Susukino (すすきの)

If you want to eat delicious and authentic Hokkaido dishes in Susukino (すすきの), I recommend "Shubo Kibarashi (酒房きばらし)"↓

The izakaya does not have menu, and the chef cooks dishes from carefully selected seasonable ingredients. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
Just for reference, the budget here is around 10,000 to 15,000 yen/ head.

Look at the sea urchin↓
This is freshly removed from shells!!! I really love it!!!

The sashimi is also gorgeous!!
Botanebi prowns are huge and sweet!!
Chutoro (中トロ), and ohtoro (大トロ) are perfect!!
Abalone is very appetizing!!!
Would you like to eat it? (Of course!!!)

As I love sake, and the chef always serves us dishes going well with sake!! Thank you very much!!!

The asparagus and Sakhalin Surf Clam (ホッキ)↓ are very seasonable and sweet!!! Yummy x 2!!

So is the corn!!!
Why?
Of course the chef selects the best ingredients in the season, but look at this↓

He uses "Kubota Senjyu (久保田 千寿)", a very very expensive sake, as seasoning for the vegetables above↑ Unbelievable!!!

If you love fresh seafood and vegetables, this izakaya is a paradise!!!

I always order this curry and rice at the end of the course.
Look at the ingredients; abalones, prawns, scallops, Sakhalin surf clams and so on!! Sounds like a seafood jewel box!!! Wow! Wow! Wow!
How delicious the curry is!!

Last but not least, we enjoyed fruits! 

I really recommend this izakaya!!

Kusunoki (鮮肴味旬 楠)| Seafood Izakaya | Susukino (すすきの)

After enjoying Ezo Tajimaushi steak (see the details→), we went to "Kusunoki (鮮肴味旬 楠)" to enjoy seasonable seafood!

I love an individual room.....

I enjoyed wine and beer in the previous restaurant, we ordered sake

I really really recommend cod white roe (たちポン)in the winter time. This is very milky and mild! I love it!

As this restaurant is famous for goosefish (あんこう) dish, I ordered goosefish liver! Yummy x 2!!!

I also love herring and its roe (鰊切りこみ)↓, which goes well with sake!!

We almost forgot why we came here!
Yes!
We wanted to eat a delicious seafood bowl! How about "Kusunoki bowl (くすのき丼)"?

Voila!
This is THE special seafood bowl!

Look at the toppings; salmon roe and abalone!!! I especially love abalone's liver at the center!!!

Sea urchin is served separately, and put on the top by ourselves!!!
Do you know how much it is? It is only 3,000 yen!! A good buy, isn't is??

We enjoyed delicious seafood here in Susukino (すすきの).

Aozuka Shokudou (民宿 青塚食堂)| Seafood Restaurant | Otaru

There are a lot of recommendable seafood restaurants in Otaru, and "Aozuka Shokudou (民宿 青塚食堂)" is one of them, serving very fresh seafood, and located near Panorama Observatory (パノラマ展望台).

Look at the ocean just in front of the restaurant! How beautiful it is!

Let's enter it!
Wow! Wow! Wow! It is always packed with a lot of seafood lovers like this↓

One of the attractions there is their cooking style. We can enjoy fresh seafood cooked in front of us! How yummy it is!

There are a lot of seafood dishes served in this restaurant, and one of my guests ordered............

a "grilled squid set special (イカ焼き定食スペシャル)"↓ The squid is really juicy and recommendable!!

The other guest ordered a "grilled Hakkaku rockfish set special (八角焼き定食スペシャル)". Hakkaku is local fish caught off Otaru area only. Sounds very Hokkaido, doesn't it?

They also shared this seafood bowl named "Hokkai bowl (北海丼)", which has salmon roe, scallop, and seasoned hearing topped on the rice. Great choice, isn't it?

Voila!
I ordered a "fresh scallop bowl set (生ホタテ丼)".

As it is very fresh, we can eat everything in the shell as sashimi (or raw)!!! I love this really big and thick local scallop!! 

This is a "Atka Mackerel set (ホッケ定食)"↓
The fish is loved by local people, because it is very fatty, and goes well with beer.

Do you like whelk (つぶ), a local shellfish?

If you love sea urchin (うに), how about a "salmon and sea urchin bowl (サーモンうに丼)"?

Yummy x 2!!!

Don't miss a giant abalone!!!

I really love channel rockfish (キンキ), too↓ This is the king of the grilled fish!!

Don't forget assorted sashimi (刺身盛り合わせ)?

Nanpo Tometaro Shoten/ Kunseiya (南保留太郎商店 燻製屋)| Smoked Food Shop | Yoichi (余市)

There is a unique shop in Yoichi (余市).
Look at "Nanpo Tometaro Shoten/ Kunseiya (南保留太郎商店 燻製屋)", a very popular smoked food shop in this area.

One of my favorite ones is smoked deep-water shrimps (甘えび燻製)↓ Yummy x 2!!!

How about smoked coffee beans?
Actually we went to their cafe next to this shop after this, and enjoyed iced smoked coffee there!

Don't forget smoked Ovalipes punctatus (平蟹の燻製). This is super-super delicious!!! Usually they are sold out before noon! Be careful!!

They have smoked vegetables and tofu, too. Amazing, isn't it?

Mingei Goten (民芸御殿)/Sunflower Field|Lake Toya Area

I came to Lake Toya (洞爺湖) with my tour guests. How peaceful it is!

Look at the sunflower field, just in front of the lake! Wow! Wow! Wow! We were so excited to see the beautiful lake and the pretty field at the same time!!!

We parked a car, and enjoyed taking pics of the field for a while.
Using a parking lot, we dropped by this souvenir shop, "Mingei Goten (民芸御殿)". 

Ainu crafts are sold in this shop.
We actually planed to eat lunch in another restaurant, but as we were hungry, we decided to have lunch here, too. Hahaha!

How do you like seafood BBQ? Are you envy me?

This is Ishikari Nabe (石狩鍋), a salmon and vegetable stew with miso, which is a typical local dish. Yummy x 2!!

Don't miss local scallops!!! My guests and I enjoyed local products from the bottom of our heart!!

After having lunch, we again enjoyed the beautiful field..........

We really love summer!!!
