Okhotsk no Rusk-yasan (オホーツクのラスク屋さん)| Onishi Panten (大西パン店) | Bihoro

I've found a recommendable snack

in JR Engaru (遠軽).

Beside this Kiosk,

eight kinds of rusk (Melba toast) are displayed! The rusk is made of flour produced in Okhotsk area and sugar beats in Bihoro (美幌).

Look at the rusk!!!
I'll show you all of the kinds!

■Ruhyo (meaning drift ice) white chocolate: is the most popular rusk in this series!!!
■Kitanoyozora (meaning night sky in the north) milk chocolate: looks very yummy x 2!!!

Garlic: must go well with beer!
Onion produced in Kitami: smells very wonderful!!
■Camembert cheese: I love cheese!!!

Pumpkin produced in Saroma: is naturally sweet and my favorite!
Sugar produced in Bihoro: can be a parfect snack at three o'clock!
Maple: makes my mouth water! Hahaha!

After all, I bought the two; white chocolate and garlic flavors↓

The rusk is made by Onishi Panten (大西パン店), which is a 50-year-old bakery, baking bread for school lunch in this area. They use Hokkaido flour only, which is naturally sweeter than ones produced in other areas. Sounds great♪

I bought it for my family, but actually I ate it up on the train because it is so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it! Let me consider I bought it for myself! Hahaha!

Garlic rusk really goes well with beer, smelling very tempting, and increasing my appetite!
Ops! We had a beer party on the train! The rusk I bought were gone completely!!!

I really recommend this rusk!

Komugi no Ki (小麦の木)| Flour Dish Restaurant | Obihiro

Obihiro is famous for its agriculture, animal husbandry, and dairy husbandry. Today I'll show you a very famous flour dish restaurant, "Komugi no Ki" in the city!

It has quite unique atmosphere, doesn't it???

They use Hokkaido-grown flour only and mill the flour by themselves!!
Their ramen does not conclude any sodium carbonate, preservatives, emulsifier at all!! Sounds very healthy and palatable!!!

How about dumplings? You can enjoy its very elastic skin!!!

Udon noodles sounds wonderful, too! What should I order????

I ordered shio (salt-flavor) samen↓

Wow! Wow! Wow! Tastes very flour! The noodles are very springy!!! Yummy x 2!!!

This roasted pork is very soft! More than perfect!

The broth is made of pork and chicken, added some pork's backfat without extra fat! This is my favorite!!!

Oops! I've found another menu!!! This is a special item only from Oct.1 to Nov. 30! This dumpling is not usual dumplings. They use 100% Hokkaido beef (grown in Tokachi region) for this dumping! I have to order it!!!

Look at the wing! How beautiful it is!

Very tasty skin and very juicy meat! I love it!

The city holds "Eat up Tokachi Beef campaign" from Oct.1 to Nov. 30.

Several restaurants join the festival and I 've got one stamp at this restaurant! I have to collect all of the stamps! Hahaha!

Hoku-Hoku-An (ほくほく庵) | Tempura & Nabeyaki Udon Restaurant | Naganuma

On the weekend, I was driving in a rural area to go to my favorite udon restaurant.

*Udon is a type of thick wheat-flour noodle popular in Japanese cuisine. It is usually served hot as noodle soup in a mildly flavored broth.

I've found it! This is a sign of the restaurant!

”Hand-kneaded udon Hoku-Hoku-An" is always packed with customers during the lunch time.

The owner had run a popular udon restaurant in Sapporo for about 20 years and now has this shop in Naganuma, 1 hr drive from Sapporo. He had learned the secret recipe in Shikoku, a sourthern part of Japan, which is the home of Sanuki udon! That's why his udon is special and has a lot of fans!

This building is very fashionable!

It has a small garden........

a pretty wreath.........

and cute cactus pots.

This noren, short curtain, has also charm!

The restaurant has some normal tables but I like to take a seat at this LONG table just behind the BIG windows so that I can enjoy eating udon while looking around the rural beauty!

The window frames are just like painting frames! I like the sense of the owner!

We ordered one cold udon and one hot udon, because the texture and flavor of udon can change depending on the temperature!

This is a special nabeyaki udon, hot udon served in a pot with broth. We were surprised to see the BIG size!!!

HOT, HOT, HOT!!! But delicious!

I really enjoyed this udon! The mission completed!

Then we ate udon with tempura!

The udon noodles are shiny! If you enjoy udon itself, I recommend cold udon! Combination of toughness and elasticity is the essential chewing texture of a tasty udon!

This is tempura! They use local ingredients.

I like shrimp,

but I love local vegetables like this↓

They serve sweets without food additives. I like the policy of this restaurants!

I bought a tube cake!

I really enjoyed the weekend!
